Jakhangaon is an American Country rock band formed in San Diego California in 2009.
The band was formed by Josh M. and Steve P. They first met on their school, and at the age of 10. The 2 boys decided to form an alternative rock band, but they were the only 2 guys from their class that knew how to play an instrument, so they got a little bit disappointed. They started with the name of Gummies, but all the people just laughed at them, but they didn’t gave up at any moment. At the age of 15 they decided to finish with the band and Josh M. moved to another city. Then he met Andrew, and he discovered that he knew how to play the drums. Josh M. started to think about making a band again and he talked to Steve and he agreed.
The 3 guys recorded an EP and they sent it to some companies, but none answered back, until one day, in which an old guy talked to them and told them that he was allowing to record their first album. The 3 friends were surprised but there were some conditions.
First the producer told them that they should pick up another music style, because there were a lot of alternative rock bands and all of them played the same music, so the 3 guys decided to form a Country Rock band, because there weren’t a lot of those.
Then they discovered that they needed a bassist, so the producer Michael, told them that he had a son that knew how to play all kind of instruments. His name was Galileo. They were not sure about having Galileo in the band because of his name, but they were surprised when they met him and they listened to him playing the bass, so the 3 agreed.
The last problem was to choose a front vocal, the 4 guys made an audition but they were just too bad singers, so Josh talked with his older brother Richard and asked him if he wanted to join his band. Richard was exited for trying on a new music style so he said yes.
After all, they recorded their first album and decided to call the band Jakhangaon because that was the place in which his producer Michael was born, so they were very happy that finally a person believed in them, and that’s also why they wanted to put a phrase linked with the experience they lived, and they called to they first CD ALBUM ''Let your light shine.'' representing that nobody should give up and that if you want something you need to work for it.
